Step into our Time Machine with the editors, authors, aspiring authors, models and fans of Ellora’s Cave Publishing! On Friday night, grab a club and dress up in your finest skins, bones, seashells and feathers for a primal journey back to the Stone Age, with a real, live caveman dance and barbecue!

On Saturday night, we’ll launch into the future for our awards dinner and party, shall we say the year 3000? How will we dress and look? That’s up to you to imagine, and we’re giving prizes for the best costumes! One thing’s for sure: There will still be Cavemen, and they will still dance for your pleasure. And the bad girls of romance will continue to misbehave.

We’re still working on the workshops and games that will be offered by EC editors, authors and staff, but we have already booked Cleveland Exotic Dance to teach old fashioned burlesque and pole dancing

Ellora’s Cave will always be known for our own special blend of erotic romance trademarked as Romantica®. A few years ago, we added a line of erotica called Exotika™ to bring you hot stories not bound by the traditional romance formula. But we know that sometimes you want a little more romance, a little less sex.

Presenting Blush: The Softer Side of Romance
Now, Ellora’s Cave presents a third line: Blush is our line of more traditional-style romance. With less explicitly described sex than our Romantica and Exotika titles. Blush books have three levels of sensuality:
Sweet Romance (kisses only, no sexual content)
Suggestive Romance (love scenes are not explicitly described in graphic terms)
Sensual: (may have explicit love scenes and graphic terms, but not erotic level or frequency)
Blush still features kick-ass heroines, dashing alpha heroes, and exciting adventures in genres from historical to futuristic. Although we are releasing new Blush titles weekly, the older books in this line were previously published under our Cerridwen banner.

Introducing Two New Genres

The theme this year is the Time Machine, so come aboard for unforgettable new adventures!

First Stop: The Stone Age. On Friday night, we’ll whisk you back 20,000 years, to a time when cave-dwelling men and women indulged their every primitive urge without hesitation or shame. Ellora’s Cavemen will pay homage to the era with a primal fire dance, led by the delicious Caveman, Angelo. Third Stop: The Present. Sunday night, for those attendees not leaving until Monday, brings us to our annual pizza, crazy hat & bingo party hosted by Ellora's Cave Publisher, Raelene Gorlinsky. Wear your gaudiest head garb, unwind with the Ellora's Cavemen, and enjoy your last night with us in a festive, laughter-filled setting!

We’ll also spend plenty of time in the present throughout the convention with workshops, focus groups, social activities, eating, games, prizes, and much, much more! The hotel is located in the heart of downtown Akron, Ohio, with lots of shopping, restaurants, nightlife and other activities. We picked this weekend for our conference to take advantage of the exciting events planned at Lock 3, adjacent to the hotel, including concerts and the city's annual art fair. The Akron area, hometown to stars ranging from LeBron James, Angie Everhart, and Clark Gable, to Chrissie Hynde, John Holmes (surprised?!) and Marilyn Manson, is also the headquarters of Ellora's Cave. Ellora's Cave opened up a brand new world for me, and one which I want to live in forever. When you are 56 and have been married for 39 years you tend to get in a rut. I married my high school sweetheart and hate to admit it, but he was the first man I slept with (on my wedding night) as well as the only man I slept with in my life! He is the most wonderful man in the world, my best friend and still the sexiest man I have ever seen. Throughout the years and five children, we pretty much fell into a comfortable routine. I grew up while we were married and as I became older (although probably not wiser), I began to have these fantasies about him. He was in the military for 25 years and when he was deployed I would take out my books (which I kind of hid in a box in the closet) and enter the land of exotic fantasy. Life is all about choices. My husband and I have been together for 20 years, married for 17. For you to understand the scope of the change in my life I'll give you a little of my background.

I was raised in a VERY strict, VERY catholic household. You could say that I've had my inhibitions drummed into my head from birth. It was only reinforced when I attended school. I even did a couple loads of laundry and cleaned up around the house. I finally settled down, made a pot of tea, turned on some classical music and sat down with my book Double Trouble by A. James.

That book was like foreplay! For the first time in my life I was aroused and by a book. I'd been married and had three children but I had never felt like I did after reading just a portion of that book. I was an eye-opening experience. I went to work the next day and it was like a veil had been lifted from my eyes and my inhibitions! My imagination was working overtime on a couple of my coworkers who flirted with me constantly. Mind you...I had NO idea what I was doing but with my newfound confidence I was doing it anyway!

I'd sent the kids to their aunt's house for the weekend so that wasn't a concern. I was as ready as I was going to get. I'd prepared dinner. I wore a silky blouse with ample cleavage and it was light enough you couldn't fail to see my nipples, especially as excited and scared as I was. I also wore silk pants that were easy to remove. Like I said, I was going to be naughty if it killed me.

It's the grand finale of The Cave's big convention and the only part that is free and open to the public. What's so special about this year's convention is that it celebrates the 10th anniversary of the little publishing company that no one saw coming.

Dressed as characters from EC's first book, The Empress' New Clothes by Jaid Black, Lisa and CJ were telling people about the fun in store at the book fair, including books, authors, hunky cover models, and great prizes, including ebook readers and computers.

They visited Michael Heaton at the Cleveland Plain Dealer (below).

They also stopped in at weekly alt newspaper The Cleveland Scene and WJW-TV Fox 8.

Gardener's Syndrome is arguably one of the worst diseases a person can have, genetic or otherwise. In the words of an HIV+ patient, at least with AIDS there is still hope. On the contrary for GS sufferers, very little is known about the disease, even amongst doctors. There is no ongoing research for this vicious illness, though it claims the lives of its victims in a horrific manner. As Maggie told me, "I've been in the fight against this monster since June of 1980, and in all that time, there have been no advances in treatment, nothing done for all those who live with it that has changed; then, as now, the only thing you can do is cut out the diseased parts of the body until you either run out of parts or say 'that's enough'."

A devoted mother, Maggie spends most of her time caring for whichever daughter is in the hospital at any given time. The painful reality that she will most likely outlive her children is a nightmare from which there is no awakening. I first became acquainted with Maggie's story when our customer service department forwarded me a letter of appreciation she took the time to write to EC during one of her many trips to the hospital with Bruce. She thanked EC for its supportive staff and wonderful authors; authors who have helped her and her daughters escape their painful realities through the splendid worlds they've--we've--created.

We might not be able to cure Gardener's Syndrome, but together we can give Maggie and one of her children a much needed vacation from doctors and hospitals. Maggie and her daughter Karen would love more than anything to attend this year's Romanticon in Akron, Ohio, where they can meet their favorite authors and "forget" for a little while. The economy being what it is, however, they simply cannot afford it.

Life is all about choices. My husband and I have been together for 20 years, married for 17. This is somewhat roundabout, but Ellora's Cave books improved my sex life by being well written. They aren't embarrassing to read like I had always imagined romance novels to be. I wasn't worried about the sex (Ok, a little. How my hippie parents raised a prude, I will never know) but reading "fluff" has always had a stigma to it. The characters were one-dimensional girl-women without personalities that the reader could insert herself on to. The relationships that came to mind when I saw book covers were always "oh, rescue me" or dysfunctional.

So when I actually did take a chance (aka, ran out of "good" books to read) and borrowed from a friend's bookcase, imagine my surprise when dysfunctional turned out to be a good thing. Sometimes being rescued is interesting! I wasn't expecting originality, a story that I got emotionally invested in, and scenes hot enough that I'd blush and hope nobody saw. The story might change, the heroine may do the rescuing but each novel I read took away more of the "fluff" shame.

He was in the military for 25 years and when he was deployed I would take out my books (which I kind of hid in a box in the closet) and enter the land of exotic fantasy. I even did a couple loads of laundry and cleaned up around the house. I finally settled down, made a pot of tea, turned on some classical music and sat down with my book Double Trouble by A. James.

That book was like foreplay! For the first time in my life I was aroused and by a book. I'd been married and had three children but I had never felt like I did after reading just a portion of that book. I was an eye-opening experience. I'd sent the kids to their aunt's house for the weekend so that wasn't a concern. I was as ready as I was going to get. I'd prepared dinner. Like I said, I was going to be naughty if it killed me.

Hi! I want to give you a little background information before I tell you how Ellora's Cave has had a tremendous effect on my love life. I have a very hectic, "mommy-can-we-can you-can-they-sleepover" life. My husband retired from the Marine Corps after 20 years, (we have been married for 21 years), we have three active boys…everything from baseball, football games/practice to track practice/events. I work as a teacher's aide at my son's high-school. I spend a lot of my time, sitting around waiting for practice to end, or start. How Ellora's Cave Has Improved My Sex Life

This is actually a very easy question to answer but it takes a little bit of set up to do so. First, my husband and I are (or were) in our late 20s at the time I first started reading EC religiously. We were getting ready to try to start making a baby (yay) and I was very excited about the whole prospect. Nobody actually tells you that when you are trying to make a baby the sex actually becomes really boring and repetitive. You become wrapped up in checking ovulation and the maximum positions for fertilization and you end up dreading bedtime because you are going to have to lie on your back for a certain amount of time that is recommended…blah blah blah....

One thing that EC reminded me was that sex is actually an expression of the passion that you feel for your partner but it can also take reality and turn it into fantasy. The same old routine can REALLY be spiced up with a little dirty talk or spanking during sex and my husband has even enjoyed it when I have read passages out of some of the books to him. Granted he is not too keen on the threesome scenes that include more than one male but, of course, would love for us to try almost everything else that I have read about. So far we have only hedged into the possibilities of what can happen and that makes me love reading these books. It gives me the freedom to know that other women out there have the same fantasies and desires that I have.

EC gave me back my passion for my husband when I had started to take it for granted. I was energized by the raw law scenes that would play out in my head when reading and it made bedtime MUCH more fun. We actually had a very hard time creating the baby we had tried so hard for, and after two unfortunate tragedies we became parents in Feb 09 to a beautiful little girl. General descriptions of the two new lines are below. For details and submission guidelines, go here.
GEN-EDGE
Audience: 18- to 25-year-old modern women who would enjoy reading sexually explicit erotic romance stories about heroines with whom they can identify.
Length: Any of our length categories (10K to about 125K)
Tone and Style: The books will have a strong narrative voice. Dialogue and narrative will be very reflective of the target audience’s world.
Heroines: Must be in the 18-25 range, with behavior and attitude to match. The heroine should reflect the lifestyles and values of today's modern young woman. These will not be like our existing stories that happen to have a heroine in that age range—the style will be very different.
Hero: The hero doesn't have to fit into the same age range. He may indeed be of age similar to the heroine, part of her peer group. But we would also accept stories of young women involved with older men.
In addition to being open to submissions from existing EC authors, we are looking to recruit new, authors to write for this line, who have an authentic voice for this age range.

BRANDED
Audience: This line is for women of any age who would, or perhaps already do, enjoy EC Romantica®, but who have a personal belief that sex should not occur before or outside of marriage.
Length: Any of our length categories (10K to about 125K)
Setting: Any setting, but the culture must involve a legal and binding commitment ceremony between the two people that includes the intent of permanence (“’til death do us part”) and monogamy.
Sexual Content: These are as erotic as all of our other books—but the actual sex does not occur until after marriage. The stories should be the same graphic level of sexual description as EC’s existing lines.
These are not religious or “inspirational” stories. The decision to wait for sex is a personal choice of the characters, based on a variety of reasons, and should in no way imply a judgment that other people are wrong or "bad" for making different choices.
